Quad vs. Bus

So Monday was interesting, I was attending a networking event in Perth and it finished around 1930. The Fremantle train line was shut for maintenance and the taxi companies all told me it was at least a 30 minute wait so I decided to take the replacement bus...

I mean what could go wrong?

Bus rides for those who do not realise are much like a roller coaster without safety bars for people with no trunk muscle control! But being prepared I hung on tight and made it safely to my stop. The bus driver put the ramp out etc and noticed that it was steep and offered to move to a spot that was less of an incline. At the same time a lovely bloke offered to help me out and I took him up on the offer.

As we were going down the ramp I hear my helper say 'Oh Shit' and my chair lurched suddenly to the side. My face then rapidly traveled towards the foot path as if I had said 'Hold my beer' in reply to a headbutting concrete contest.

All in all though it was a very lucky day, a bit of road rash on my face and elbows. No concussion or damage to my chair! The passengers helped me back into my chair and offered to walk with me to my accommodation.

Why am I telling you all this? Well I just wanted to repeat what I told my helper and the people on the bus before we parted ways:

'Do not let a bad experience put you off offering to help someone, there are too many people in this world who do not offer to help someone in need because they are afraid of back lash. Every time someone offers me help it reinforces my faith in humanity and very rarely will you get back lash.'

So please everyone, do not let fear hold you back from offering help and everyone who is offered help, regardless of your mood, be polite, you never know when you will really need help!
